Quality and Comfort - A Little History

Woodsmoke and Willow grew out of a need to find a solution for my daughter's sensitive ears. When she pierced her ears in 2020, she had severe reactions to earrings made from inexpensive (even so-called “hypoallergenic”) metals.

I started researching materials and discovered titanium, a non-reactive, biocompatible metal commonly used in medical implants. Making her earrings from polymer clay and titanium not only solved our problem, but it also became a deeply satisfying creative outlet, opening up a new world of fun, unique jewelry she could wear.

I wanted this solution to be available to everyone who struggles with metal sensitivity. I now specialize in making fun, nerdy, beautiful, and intricately detailed artisan jewelry that people can wear without worrying about painful ears. My Studio

I began selling on Etsy in the spring of 2021, working from my dining room table. I quickly outgrew that space, as our family’s need to have a place to eat together took precedence.
I converted a space in my basement to a studio, and have been slowly adding to it as needed. This space has become my happy place, and calm in the storm of life.
Attention to Detail

My commitment to detail can be seen in every piece I create.
Whether it’s texture, shading, shine, or realism, attention to detail has become the hallmark of my style.
Slow Made

While each piece is one of a kind, some designs are produced in batches. There will be slight variations among individual pieces, but this is as “mass produced” as it gets around here.
All handmade, in my studio, by me.
Made in Canada

Growing up in Central and Northern Alberta, surrounded by prairie and parkland just hours from the Rocky Mountains, I developed a profound appreciation for the natural world. Capturing the awe of nature is my primary inspiration.
I produce all my work by hand from my home in St. Albert, Alberta.

High Quality Materials

I only use the highest quality polymer clay and non-reactive earring findings for my jewelry.
There is nothing more disappointing than finding something beautiful, buying it and being unable to wear it. As only 0.6% of people are sensitive to titanium, you can rest assured my earrings will be comfortable.
My Packaging

I keep my packaging simple to allow the products to shine. Each product is carefully carded and securely packed for shipping.
I design and produce everything but the boxes in house.

Formally trained in Art and Design at the University of Alberta, I am an illustrator, designer, DIY enthusiast, and clay artist. I have worked as an Exhibit Designer for the Royal Alberta Museum, an Artifact Illustrator on archaeological excavations in Italy and Cyprus, and as a Field Trip Presenter for Teacher’s Pet Educational Services delivering a variety of art and science based programs to elementary classrooms. I am passionate about making education fun and engaging.
I am a mother of 4, science nerd, nature enthusiast, avid hiker and traveler, lover of intricate details and grand adventures.
